[Vorstand] new zambian volunteers

Dear EWE Teams in Zambia and Germany,

I hope that you are all in good health and I wish you all the best for this
new year, success in all what you begin and continue to do.

On our German side we are reflecting since december the general conditions
to receive again new  zambian volunteers. In december the corona situation
was rather good in Germany, but in our neighbour countries the number of
infected persons increased rapidly. This reached us now too, although a
good percentage is vaccinated. We have new records of infected persons!
I talked about that to Katharina from SDFV who is responsable for the
working places since last year. She thinks that it will be very difficult
to find working places, the disappointing experience with the hospital in
Düren last year is still in our mind (we had 5 volunteers there in the
years before with good results and last year they did not want to take a
volunteer)...

This is one side of our reflections, the other is how to accompany and
prepare the volunteers and how to find host families. We thought that it
will be easier in Aachen to find families but it was difficult.
Silja and Evans are the young ones who accompany Margaret and Judith, but
Silja finishes her formation this year and will work as a midwife perhaps
in another town. Evans is finishing the first part  of his studies and
wants to go home for some months before going on.
So Guido and I decided together that we want to have a time-out for the
next generation of zambian volunteers to find new inspiration and hopefully
new committed young people (as Guido said in his last mail from the 24th of
december).

I hope that you can understand our decision, we want to do a good work on
our side as you do in Zambia.
