Lieber Vorstand,

zu Eurer Kenntnis meine Antwort auf die Mitteilung von

Ich bin auf die Reaktionen gespannt und wie sich die

Dear Sister and ewe Team Zambia,

thank you for the update.

It is a hard analysis, when you say Ben is not making an exchange.
That reflects of standards and values we as ewe share about the
intercultural exchange of youth from both ends. Maybe our
communication and sharing about the standards and values has not
been enough and they are more in our minds and in our hearts and
in our practice as ewe. The exchange is living tradition aand
spirit of ewe, but not fixed in aims and guidelines. This is an
outstanding and necessary issue to involve newcomer and to
integrate them. Never the less every year the exchange continues
with a new generation of volunteers and we as responsables are
challenged to communicate this "philosophie" or selfconception of
ewe to the youth we have to deal with and of cause with the
hosting families.

Within the current exchange situations, we need earlier, more and
better communication between the responsibles from both ends. We
on our end need to be informed about the situation if a crisis
develops, because we are asked by the parents and have to explain
the (cultural) background.

I hope Ben will manage his situation in guest house and hospital
and find friends in the new surrounding, so that he feels not
isolated. After his departure responsables have to reflect the
development of Ben's and Silja's volunteer year, for a better
understanding and learning.

Next sunday we (Helen and me, supported by Gesine) will do the
internal preparation with Naomie. We hope that we will be
successful to bring over the ewe-spirit.

Regards

Dear Friends
Greetings from Zambia
Following the discussions we have had concerning Ben' s life in
the host family. I wish to inform you on behalf of the EWE team
here in Zambia that we have finally made a decision to move Ben
from his current host family. This decision has come up after
much thought and consideration. As we shared earlier with you,
Ben continued to struggle in the host family even after we moved
him. He would have loved to complete his year with his host
family but it was not possible to leave him there because after
our visit to the family it became evident to us that he was not
"making" any exchange. He is currently living alone in the
Diocesan Guest House in Monze and working in Monze Mission
Hospital. He has always wanted to work in the hospital so we
felt this time when we can't place him in any family it would be
helpful for him to make another experience in the hospital.
We hope you understand our decision. If you have any questions
please do not hesitate to ask
Regards to all of you
Sr Chrisencia on behalf of EWE Team Zambia
